I pretty much got the reaction I was hoping to get, the ending was sad and I really wanted people to be shocked by it. The theme throughout my book was exaggerated and colorful, I wanted everything to pop off the page. The only problem with the book is that I actually never got a chance to create the cover, so you know where the book begins and ends, since it is a 2 sided accordian book. The reason I made my book perverted was to stress all of the innuendos and subliminal messages hidden in children's book's and television shows. A good example of a book title that seems almost innappropriate is "There's a Wocket in My Pocket," by Dr. Seuss. I was trying to portray something almost like him, to have the whole book have a flowing rhyme, and too make it sound almost innappropiate - and to have the pictures portray that also.
I am really pleased with the outcome of my book, but if I was to do it again I would definitely change a few things. I would want it to look more professional, and printed out instead of the cut-out theme I used throughout the book.
This definitely isn't the end of that book, I know that there are still a lot of things it could definitely use, so when I get bored I'm probably going to work more on it.

But yea, that's about it. Thanks for making class a good time Brian, and I hope you have a good summer!

*NiyaNiya Donnellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16960943897277858697noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7896868488418222009.post-26039513959611383562008-04-22T13:20:00.000-07:002008-04-22T13:27:18.269-07:00My final projectOk, so I'm basing my final project on how there are subliminal messages, more so sexual innuendos in children's and on the television. So I am going to make my own perverted children's book to kind of demonstrate this. It will be written in poem form and the verses will seem not so bad, but I want my illustrations to be the shocking part.
The book is going to look like an accordian, and I am really excited to finish it.
Lately I've been just fixing my story over and over trying to get it to be PERFECT.
This is going well the only thing I am really having trouble with is how I am going to set up the book.

I think I am going to draw the whole thing out, and then scan it into the computer, and then use Illustrator to illustrate it, so that it looks more professional.

I DON'T KNOW, this whole thing just seems so out of reach and like I'll never finish or something, so now is the TIME to STEP IT UP.

But I have a feeling that this will all work out in the end, I HOPE.Niya Donnellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16960943897277858697noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7896868488418222009.post-71486065516760939682008-04-08T12:40:00.000-07:002008-04-08T12:50:31.212-07:00ANIMALS AND COLORs!From color matters dot com I learned that Bees and Butterflies can see colors that humans can't see! They can see a range of colors that extend into the ultraviolet! A pit viper actually feels heat for objects and actually doens't see anything at all, which to me would be scary. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't see anything at all, I appreciate my eyeballs.
For animals that are on the land, like squirrels and monkey's they have really good color vision. The reasoning is because it helps them to pick out food thats ripe compared to unripe and even helps them find their mates because color play a big part on that too. They can see way better than a cat or a dog, who can make out the colors but they are very dull.
example!
Here's what a human sees!

And this is what your dog would see.

I got those two pictures from colormatters.com too -- I really like this website because so far today it has taught me a few things that I would never have known unless someone told me. And thank god it is all actually interesting stuff.
check it out!Niya Donnellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16960943897277858697noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7896868488418222009.post-37938922773096550812008-04-08T12:32:00.000-07:002008-04-08T12:40:02.891-07:00colormatters.comThere is this really interesting website I found called Colormatters.com and it has all different things about colors from how it effects us to what colors mean. I just read an article ( http://www.colormatters.com/body_pink.html ) on how they put a bubble-gum pink color in some jail cells to calm violent prisoners. It was saying that no matter how aggressive or angry someone would try to get in a room that color, that it is somewhat impossible because they say it is a tranquilizing color that saps your energy. We've all talked about how color affects the body together a billion times, but I thought the bubble-gum pink one was pretty interesting.

They also have things on there about how color can affect taste and smell also, I don't really want to copy what they put down, but it is interesting and anyone who looks at this blog should just check out the website for a minute it's pretty cool.Niya Donnellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16960943897277858697noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7896868488418222009.post-46020239699141838082008-04-08T12:22:00.000-07:002008-04-08T12:32:50.266-07:00COLOR!!!!!I'm beginning to wish that my life was in black and white. Cause with all these color blogs brian I'm starting to wish that there was no color.
Which makes me think about dreams. I have always dreamt in color, but there are some people that I know that say they only dream in black and white.
Personally I think that most people do dream in color, but some may not notice colors in their dreams. Because color is so natural that we sometimes overlook colors in our dreams. I know that sometimes the dream memory fades so quickly that I only end of remembering it in shades of gray, like I can't recall any color at all, but while I am in it I recognize colors a lot. I have been having the weirdest dreams where I've been put in game situations, but I am at my house and only certain things were colored brightly so I only noticed them. My walls were yellow and my umbrella was pink. But i think that this is only because I long to be home. My bedroom is bright yellow, and I do have a pink umbrella. But in dreams colors can mean certain things. Like this one time I had a dream where I kept changing the color of my car and my grandma was paying for it. But she finally decided on this forest green -- which was her favorite color. After she passed away, I was having dreams where everything was completely green, and everything blended into eachother and all I could notice was my grandmother in technicolor - which is really weird. But I liked that dream a lot, it brought back a lot of memories.
I don't know why I was really thinking about that, I just think stuff like that is really interesting.Niya Donnellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16960943897277858697noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7896868488418222009.post-24144607957929265442008-04-01T10:11:00.000-07:002008-04-01T10:19:18.425-07:00Coler InteractionSo last week we did what was called color interaction. We had to take three different colors and put them together to give the illusion that one of the colors was actually two seperate colors. Does that make sense? Yeah. So I found this project really very interesting. I liked the fact that colors can definitely play tricks on your eyes to make you see something that is not.
I really liked this project because it made me see colors in a completely different way, and I really enjoyed it.
Hmm what else about color?
Oh how about the new color project we have. I really dont' know what to do only because I'm not very good with illustrator - and even though I have other choices I don't really know what I'm going to do.

I have a lot to think aboutNiya Donnellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16960943897277858697noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7896868488418222009.post-70043423279402817402008-03-11T13:17:00.000-07:002008-03-11T13:24:27.038-07:00Orange

When I saw this I just laughed so incredibly hard.
Poor Orange. It's such a nice color he didn't really deserve all that.

But yeah, on with my blog.
I guess I'll talk about me sarah and sara painting our faces.
It was so much fun, even though I felt like I couldn't move my eyelids and all the paint was in my nose and ears.
Sara got it all in her hair, and Sarah robbins was so damn clean. I wish I was that clean. All of our individual styles came out on our faces, which was really cool to see. Sara Winston being the sloppiest most care free and sarah's being the most neat and clean. I wish I had a picture on here to post but, I'll find one and throw it in here as soon as I get a chance. It looked so neat once we were done. So props to Sarah robbins for comin up with the idea to paint our faces to show Analagous, Monochromatic, and Complimentary colors made from Blue. Our face's were pallettes. So that was cool.Niya Donnellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16960943897277858697noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7896868488418222009.post-28955592447937178452008-03-11T13:13:00.000-07:002008-03-11T13:17:27.754-07:00colorr againI love color, where would I be in this world without color? One of my friends is color blind and I think about how much that would suck all the time. His life is probably so boring (but normal for him). It sucks that he can't see how beautiful the sky can be sometimes especially at sunset, all the purple, pink, yellow and orange hues. It sucks how he'll never tell the difference from a pink rose to the purest red rose ever, and how he'll never be able to tell the recycling bin from the garbage bin. He always wears the same color scheme too, a black shirt and some blue jeans, white pair of shoes.
Thank god I was born wiht the ability to see colors or I don't know what I would do. Most likely nothing.Niya Donnellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16960943897277858697noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7896868488418222009.post-74927894139149848742008-03-02T11:46:00.000-08:002008-03-11T13:13:31.400-07:00Color me timbers! So for this blog I decided to write about the connections between people and their favorite colors.
My best friend Mook loves, Loves, LOVES the color green. I'd have to say mainly a bright lime green but she also appreciates the original green too. I'm comparing her favorite color now to her personality. She's very down to earth, and considering we live in the mountains she's all about hiking, and nature. Not to mention she is a fun spunky person which is where the lime green comes out of this interpretation. Also she can be stubborn and or greedy which kind of ties in with the way green can make you feel or how to determine something.
For me my favorite color is red. To me that shows that I can be determined, and definitely girly sometimes. Along with that I see red as a powerful persuasive color. I see it as a color that says your mood can changes quickly as your mind and I can be very opinionated. I link Red with those feelings because you can see red as making you angry, or even anxious but I'll stick with a mediocre angry for me with the color red cause I dont see myself as a psycho bloodthirty killer bitch, but I definitely speak my mind and I like to take the lead every now and then.
My girl April's favorite color is Orange. This color goe's with her so well because although Orange is a bright loud color, April is very very organized. She's also an interior designer and very artsy so I love how this color really brings out the April in April. She's fun but is serious so this color even's her personality out quite a bit. My friend Jane and Kat are all about the color blue. Both blonde equipped with blue eyes you can see one of the reasons why they love the color. Not to mention they are both very chill people who love the sound of the ocean. Both calm people but overall like to have fun. Blue I see as a chill color, mainly with a happy outlook, and I think blue is a good color for the both of them too.
I think doing this comparison wiht color and personality is very interesting, and believe it or not I'm sure your favorite color says alittle something about you too!Niya Donnellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16960943897277858697noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7896868488418222009.post-17842501825910307322008-02-05T09:10:00.000-08:002008-02-05T10:52:37.379-08:00Colooors!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_CxU7xBlUjss/R6ibzUNoLwI/AAAAAAAAABM/YQnHlBfl8Mo/s320/086.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5163548278681775874" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_CxU7xBlUjss/R6iazkNoLvI/AAAAAAAAABE/C-Md23EHZew/s320/076.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5163547183465115378" />

I picked the first picture because I like how these few totally different feeling colors fit together on one composition. The garbage and brown leaves remind me, of just... dirt or just the feeling of being unclean. But up next to a festive purple and green swirl I don't know what to think about it. Now it's just confusing since they are two totally different feelings. Unless you like to be dirty and festive all at once. =] But just because of that I like this picture a lot.Niya Donnellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16960943897277858697noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7896868488418222009.post-18951391509932356192007-12-11T12:37:00.000-08:002007-12-11T12:54:05.915-08:00Performance Artist - Allan KaprowThis might have no relevancy to performance art at all, but I was wondering if the guys from Jackass would be considered Performance Artists. They had skits, and would perform violent or just down right dangerous acts to themselves or to others. Mostly they did all of their skits in public. So would that be considered a performance art, or no because they don't consider themselves as performance artists?

Anyway Allan Kaprow was apparently a well renowned Performance Artist. He was born in August of 1927 and died April 2005. Allan was an american painter, and what they call a 'pioneer' in establishing the idea for performance art. Which means he had to help develop the "environment" for it which is also known as installation art. (Which I'm a HUGE fan of.) I love how performance and installation artists like to examine other peoples behavior and habits. It's all very interesting to see it be put into an art that is 3D. It's right there in front of you like a mirror to show the viewer how they react, or how their behavior and habits have contributed to the project itself.
Hopefully one day, I can do the same and become a serious installation artist or something like that.
Bye Brian!

"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allan_Kaprow"Niya Donnellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16960943897277858697noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7896868488418222009.post-17878105416663320442007-12-11T12:25:00.000-08:002007-12-11T12:36:20.910-08:00Logos! **make up blog!**Logo - a sign, name or trademark to represent a company or whatever.

I'm kind of mad about this blog because I KNOW I did it. But it's not in with all of my other postings for some reason. I remember doing this I swear. I remember looking at advertisements on buses and etc. I remember gathering pictures of logos and symbols to get a good look on the difference between them.
Logo's like the Playboy bunny are ridiculously famous. Once a company has made it big with their logo like NIKE, no one else can take it in any way. One day the letter N will be a logo [for me of course] and no one will be allowed to use it anywhere. Just kidding. Symbols though are different like the Peace sign, or the Tree of life, or that hand thing from Star Trek that apparently I learned represents "Live Love and Prosperity". That was interesting to find out.
But yeah, if you want me to get an understanding for Logo's from this blog, then I understand it completely and I know what they are about and used for.
Bye Brian!Niya Donnellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16960943897277858697noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7896868488418222009.post-67182572459851662032007-12-11T11:42:00.000-08:002007-12-11T12:25:17.671-08:00Positive and Negative **make up blog**I could have sworn I wrote this, but since it's apparent that I didn't I'm going to have to try and remember how I felt that glorious day. Positive space white, negative space black. This lesson taught me that I absolutely hate illustrator. I don't really think the way a graphic designer would think, I can't really get my ideas to come out on paper or on the computer. So to do my project I remember just kind of winging it and clicking the pen tool all over the page. The first time I printed out my project it was completely wrong, my margins were off.. the whole damn thing was off. So.. since it takes two to tango, my second one finally came out to be a lot better. I was proud to even just finish something on the computer.

But to be honest, I didn't like this project and I NEVER will. =]
So long Brian!Niya Donnellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16960943897277858697noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7896868488418222009.post-66159992077246294812007-11-06T12:25:00.000-08:002007-11-06T12:26:37.457-08:00Sh, Sh, Shake It Like A Polaroid Picture!

... executed quite well.Niya Donnellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16960943897277858697noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7896868488418222009.post-11930414962820144252007-10-30T11:08:00.000-07:002007-10-30T11:33:04.386-07:00What the hell are they doing? So Brian put us to the test with our performance skills, and Matt and I are pretty damn good. We decided to do the wagging tail all the way into the safeway parking lot. It was slow at first but once we started going so did our performance and it looked a lot better. These two guys that work at Safeway were like "What the hell are they doing???"-- not to mention Sara and Joel weren't far behind us doing the same thing and also had mirrors in their hands. The four of us not talking to eachother all doing similiar things probably got people to ponder what the hell was going on. Afterward we tried the shaking hands thing which wasn't as good as we expected. We decided to go inside of the store and meet half way and just randomly start shaking hands. So we did it, but all we got were weird looks while we were standing in the frozen food section asking eachother if it was warm yet. Which it definitely wasn't. After we decided it was warm we moved on to the last proposal; standing back to back making faces at eachother with the mirrors. We walked all the way out from the back of the store into the parking lot and so on. People's faces were just so funny. They didn't know what to think. I then decided to hop inside my little red van, with a cart attached to it. As Matt pushed me around as if I was a real car, I honked the little horn and was having a fake road rage at people. After parking my truck I pretty much threw myself out of it... looked around, and walked away. That was pretty good too. I like the thought of Performance Art, especially if it's humorous because I dig it I guess. It might have not been a life changing experience but it definitely did get me to think about the form of art performance. But this activity was a fun one and I love doing group projects especially when they are goofy like this one was. GOOOO BRIAN! =]Niya Donnellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16960943897277858697noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7896868488418222009.post-26382210259561717852007-10-16T11:16:00.001-07:002007-10-16T12:25:32.173-07:00Futuristic Musuems???Article number one was trying to push the idea that a "Newseum," will pretty much be the hottest thing since sliced bread. The Newseum will be online so that the viewer can just click and click and click away at things they want to see. But are they really experiencing it?? Won't that take away from the experience of seeing these sometimes amazing artifacts. Isn't that just a lazy way around doing something educational? Going online to me would take away from the artwork or whatever the object is. I'm seriously a hands on person and sure I could reference from the website which would be a completely different story, but to benefit myself and to learn more about the object I would definitely have to just get up and go see it. There's no way that museum's will die out as long as there are still people who are willing to learn and explore things they've heard but have never got to see. [Which is one of the reasons for a museums] Article number two talks about expanding museums. I'm probably going to contradict myself here a little bit so hang in there. I think that expanding a museum is a good idea in ways because there are still so many people that like to check out museums, besides little kids on field trips with their school. The crowds of people to me are what take away from the experience. I was at the Liberty Science Center and there were just so many people that I could barely see the exhibits and some I had to just skip considering it wasn't worth me shoving through a billion little kids and adults to get to it. So expanding would be good for space issues like that. This way there's more space for everyone. But also if you make a museum too big and worry about cafes and gift shops [which are over priced and over placed in many museums] that it takes away from the whole idea of it.
In some museums you end of walking by 3 cafe's and 6 gift shops that all carry the same thing. I'm sure they're making bank off of that but is it really necessary? Plus with the museum being so big besides the cafes and gift shops - there is so much stuff how can you possibly remember all of it? Or take it all in, in just one day.

I guess that's all I really can say for now without confusing anybody and myself hahaNiya Donnellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16960943897277858697noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7896868488418222009.post-27221227600524621512007-10-09T10:35:00.000-07:002007-10-09T11:18:57.372-07:00PatternsI did the research for the floor tiles, wall coverings, fabric prints and Islamic Architecture and I've come to a lot of conclusions.

Wood floor tiles seem to be all about textures.

Ceramic floor tiles seem to be more about design and the look then texture. They are all used for design. After seeing the Islamic Architecture I'm thinking about trying to mimic a pattern from there. Ya know going from light to really really dark. But until Brian brought up that chart, I've never thought of value like that in any way shape or form. Of course I know the whole deal with getting a job and making money -- that to me is just something we already know in a way, it's one of those things that's just a natural thought that I really don't think about it unless it's brought up. It's funny that an artist can put a fancy label on anything and it'll be more expensive then the same thing that's only a $1.50. I know it sounds funny but that's the only thing I could think of the whole time our class talked about it. How to me none of that really worries me, because it's really not like I'm gonna change anything about value and the way things flucuate in price and what not. So to me it's just something that's in the background of my life. Hopefully I'll become an art teacher and I'll make money, but that's how I expect it to be-- because it's a job. Out of sight, Out of mind -- i don't have a pocket value chart with me at all times so thats how i kind of think about things likke that (no not my boyfriend haha) but when it comes to value, I guess so.
But I did learn more about what I didn't really understand. So I did get something out of this. That as artists we can add value to something that is virtually the same all around.

Damn art students<3Niya Donnellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16960943897277858697noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7896868488418222009.post-60443917612985771562007-09-11T11:52:00.000-07:002007-09-11T11:57:49.887-07:00String ActivityI thought that the string activity was cool because we were all connected some way or another through line. The only shapes I saw here triangles and some parallelograms here and there (is that how it's spelt??) just because of the way it was all strung together. I didn't think that it was too lame, I thought it was kind of fun. I kept trying to connect lines together so that they could make like a teepee form haha just so you can actually see the string better . I wasn't really surprised by the way it looked in the end, I was kind of expecting it to look all strung together like a web. The only thing I don't like about this activity is the fact that as soon as I'm done writing this.. we're probably gonna have to go unstring it all.Niya Donnellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16960943897277858697noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7896868488418222009.post-67289970548925515762007-09-11T10:41:00.000-07:002007-09-11T10:53:21.820-07:00Line and Shape<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_CxU7xBlUjss/RubTd8WFa0I/AAAAAAAAAAU/8dJV6nZ4G7k/s320/line-shape_image.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5109003338666830658" />
Q: Which of the images a, b, c, or d are lines?
Q: Which of the images a, b, c, or d, are shapes?
-- A: The only way I feel that I can answer these questions is to answer them at the same time. A, and C could be lines as well as shapes. I only say that because you can make lines that go from being really thin to really thick, especially with a sharpie marker. C could be a rectangle or just a really really thick, short line. B and D are the only two I want to say are only lines.

Q:What makes a line?
A:I think that movement, and mood can make a line.

Q:What makes a shape?
A:I think that form, movement, and mood can make a shape.Niya Donnellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16960943897277858697noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7896868488418222009.post-60375368539250610772007-09-10T15:03:00.000-07:002007-09-10T15:24:59.326-07:00Kurt Wenner 3D Street Murals.

Kurt Wenner has been known for his street painting and chalk murals using a projection called anamorphosis. He has been doing it since the 1980's and they say he's one of the first artists to really do 3D street paintings. I just think that it would be really cool to see one of his murals on the sidewalk. Imagine thinking your gonna fall through the pavement when you suddenly realize it's only an illusion? Seriously, since seeing his artwork I thought it'd be good to practice techniques to become good at something that.

ok, later gators =)Niya Donnellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16960943897277858697noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7896868488418222009.post-91453694634093864412007-09-09T11:45:00.000-07:002007-09-09T12:08:32.524-07:00My First Critiquing Assignment<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_CxU7xBlUjss/RuRA7sWFazI/AAAAAAAAAAM/kxoErY3Qlqs/s320/2m_image_baker_unfair_adv.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5108279271605234482" /> Describe: In the image that I picked, there are all sorts of different colors exploding in the viewers face. It also looks as if there are soft exploding clouds all the way to the right, and it gives me a cluttered feeling.
Interpret: I feel like the artist wanted to to look noisy. In the middle there is a shape that seems to suggest the shape of a horn, which right beneath it creates a shadow. I think that's neat because it makes that ONE item, the only REAL item in the picture seem more REAL. All the shapes are colliding together and it keeps making me think of a car accident. Everytime I look at it my eye moves from some weird gold shape all the way in the left, and the lines and colors move my eyes all the way up to the right where you can see something that resembles a cloud. More of like an explosive, uncomfortable, cluttered feeling.
Evaluate: I think that the artist did a good job with making the artwork color and shapes collide to give a messy feeling. But it's not something I like, mostly because I don't like the way it makes me feel and it's not really my style.Niya Donnellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16960943897277858697noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7896868488418222009.post-1130210942130411332007-09-04T12:20:00.001-07:002007-09-04T12:21:38.642-07:00First Dayyyand i'm beat since I hopped off a bus from NJ at 5 am last night and I hated my life the whole 4 and a half hour drive.
Don't poke me I'm cranky.Niya Donnellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16960943897277858697noreply@blogger.com0
